Steve
Messana is from Long Island, New York. He plays many instruments: percussion,
drums, flute, keyboards, guitar and bass guitar, and is known as the lead
singer and frontman for Hogweed.

 In a pleasant and striking coincidence, Steve first met Hogweed keyboard
player, Mike DeRosa, while auditioning for The Slant 20 years ago.
At the time, Mike was playing guitar and writing songs for the
band.
I enjoyed the way Mike wrote music and his lyrical style. His taste in
music was similar to mine and that made for a friendly, but fleeting,
union within a promising new-rock group."
Steve
never forgot Mike and their Slant days. He had held on to their demo,
taped gigs and tacky fliers all these years,
and enjoys looking back on good times and sounds.
"Who
knew that one impulsive day, on a self-daring scheme, I'd answer an ad for
a Genesis frontman, and I would meet up with Mike DeRosa, 20 years
later, to work on another project of his.... Hogweed.
