Nate
was born and raised in New Hampshire most of his life and was living in
Boston before moving to Brooklyn at the beginning of 2003. His first
introduction to percussion was hand-drumming on bulkie rolls at the
supermarket as a toddler. Noticing their son's affinity for pounding on
things, his parents bought him his first pot and wooden spoon for his
10th birthday.
During
his late teen years, Nate studied Roger Dean artwork
and listened to a lot of classic rock. It was at
this time that he decided to take drum lessons at
his high school. Carol Chaplin and Paul Mason
(former student of Alan Dawson) taught him the
fundamentals, but a lot of his education came from
listening to records with Bill Bruford, Phil
Collins, and Jeff Porcaro.
After responding to an ad for a drummer for a Genesis tribute band, Nate
met and played with the guys and then became the final member of the new
Hogweed lineup the summer of 2003.
Nate's equipment: Tama drums & Zildjian cymbals. You can check out
the other rock band I'm in at www.dorkrock.com.
